Readings

In preparation for our April 29 discussion, please read the first chapter of Professor Hutchinson’s Monopolizing Knowledge, and a reading selected by Professor Hall:  Thank Goodness! ~ by Daniel C. Dennett.

This is the audio recording of the Science and Scientism Roundtable featuring Ian Hutchinson and Ned Hall, April 29, 2013, at the MIT Faculty Club. When Ian begins his presentation you will notice some audio alarm as we figure out how to shut the blinds on the window near Ian. We succeed in closing the blinds and Ian proceeds.

ZOOM0002 part one The beginning of the evening: introductions and presentations by Ian and Ned…part two picks right up just about where part one ends; there may be a little overlap in the content.

ZOOM0002 part two The second part of the beginning of the evening includes the abbreviated early plenary session.

ZOOM0003    First half of the latter plenary session. At some point I accidentally turned off the recorder. Thus it’s in two halves.

ZOOM0004    Second half of the latter plenary session. This begins after missing a portion of the session – my bad. Follows through to the evening’s end with final comments from Ned and Ian.

Bonus material un-related to the Roundtable content: Dave’s take on the Rich Young Ruler. (Just a place for me to store my stuff for others to access!)
